Camping and the City Girl

Itching to do something different on your next break? Consider camping in the Triangle.

There are at least three convenient places to pitch a tent in our area. Falls Lake State Recreation Area is in Wake Forest, William B. Umstead State Park is in Raleigh and Jordan Lake State Recreation Center is in Apex.

Which type of adventure do you crave most? Here are a few fun trip ideas sure to spark your imagination:

Family trek: Pack the kids in the back of the car and hit the (dirt) road for some good, old-fashioned entertainment. Savoring the simplicity of nature is the ultimate way to unplug and catch up with your all-too-modern tribe; they'll thank you for the memories, most likely via text message.

Romantic escape: Dreaming of bundling up with your beau under the stars? A brief jaunt in the wilderness is a sure-fire way to rekindle your flame. Plus, those cheery photos of you both letting loose will revitalize your humdrum Facebook feed.

Girls' weekend: Every gal loves a tranquil brunch, but nothing skyrockets female bonding like taking on the great outdoors together. Leave the cute shoes at home and prepare to rub elbows with your girlfriends in a whole new setting.
