5 Things to do in the Triangle Instead of Watching the Super Bowl

Super Bowl XLII is Feb. 3. If you dont want to worship the gridiron, make plans now to do something else that day. Here are some ideas.

1. See an action picture at the movie theater.
Even if its a new release with a huge superstar and mega special effects, you can sit anywhere you want. And eat the whole box of popcorn yourself.

2. Balance and rotate your tires.
Or get any other automotive work done. If the place is open, odds are youll be the only customer.

3. Bedazzle your partner's tool box.
So, maybe youre not the creative type. The point is that this is a great time to do things while their attention is diverted. Feel free to be devilish.

4. Go anywhere thats usually crowded.
With everybody glued to their televisions, youll have your pick of parking spaces.

5. Drive to the coast.
Wrightsville Beach is about two hours from the Triangle. A quick trip down I-40 takes you to the powdery sand, the blue ocean and the yummy seafood. One day away, and you'll feel as if youve spent a week in the Caribbean. Really.
